Population analysis report for Finnish Lapphund

Working with the Breed Health Coordinators over a range of workshops in 2025, the KC have now updated the population analysis report for each recognised breed, including the Finnish Lapphund (based on figures for registrations between 1990 and
2021).

In 2026 the KC are working on a framework Breeding for Health and will be launching a new project focused on breeds with small RKC-registered populations, based on the figures for the Finnish Lapphund, the breed has NOT been classified as having a small population based on this data.

I would wish to stress there should be no complacency about this categorisation, the data is 4 years old, and the birth rate and import rate for our breed has declined in recent year, plus there are limited dogs and bitches being used in recent years.
